HCMC – Hanoi Metro reported a fourth consecutive year of profit in 2025, with total revenue reaching VND1.03 trillion, reported local media.

At a conference on its 2026 business plan, Hanoi Railway One Member Company said the revenue figure was 16.93% higher than its 2025 target.

In 2025, the operator ran about 162,000 train services on the Cat Linh–Ha Dong line and the elevated section of the Nhon–Hanoi Station line, with 20.68 million passengers transported.

Ticket sales totaled nearly VND143 billion, over 28% higher than expected. The Cat Linh–Ha Dong line contributed nearly VND98 billion in fare revenue, up about 29% from 2024.

The company reported after-tax profit of nearly VND22.7 billion in 2025, up 47% year-on-year, marking its fourth profitable year in a row. It paid VND16.5 billion to the state budget during the year.

Hanoi vice chairman Duong Duc Tuan said the results reflected the sustained efforts of Hanoi Metro’s workforce and provided a foundation for the next development phase of the city’s metro system in 2026–2030.

He said the company had implemented national policies on science, technology, innovation and digital transformation, including upgrading and operating an electronic ticketing system with digital identification, electronic authentication, biometric recognition and cashless payment on both metro lines.

For 2026, Hanoi Metro targets growth of more than 11% in both passenger volume and revenue.

City leaders have asked the operator to improve the use of metro infrastructure to increase non-ticket revenue, including developing commercial space at stations and linking metro services with urban development.

The Cat Linh–Ha Dong metro line is 13 kilometers long, fully elevated, with 12 stations. It began operations in November 2021, with a full-line travel time of about 23 minutes. Its adjusted investment cost exceeded VND18 trillion.

The Nhon–Hanoi Station line includes an 8.5-kilometer elevated section with eight stations, which began operating in August 2024. Its four-kilometer underground section with four stations is under construction and is expected to be completed between 2027 and 2029.
