HCMC – Hanoi has been named one of the world’s top solo travel destinations for 2026 by Tripadvisor, ranking seventh in the category in its Travelers’ Choice Best of the Best Destinations awards.
The city also placed fourth in the “Top 25 Destinations in the World,” seventh in “Top 25 Cultural Destinations,” and 11th in “Top 25 Food Destinations,” according to Tripadvisor.
Tripadvisor highlighted Hanoi’s historic and architectural landmarks, including the Temple of Literature, the Old Quarter, St. Joseph’s Cathedral, the Imperial Citadel of Thang Long, and the Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum. Temples, pagodas, traditional craft villages, museums, and community cultural spaces were also cited as part of the city’s appeal.
Cuisine was identified as a key component of the visitor experience. Tripadvisor noted the use of local ingredients and the presence of food offerings ranging from street vendors to creative restaurants.
In the 2025 edition of the awards, Hanoi ranked second among the world’s top cultural destinations, seventh among top global destinations, and 14th among travelers’ all-time favorite destinations.
The city also received the titles of Asia’s Leading City Destination and Asia’s Leading City Break Destination at the 2025 World Travel Awards. It was honored in the sustainable tourism category at the TPO Best Awards 2025.
Hanoi welcomed more than 33.7 million visitors in 2025, up 20.87% from a year earlier. International arrivals exceeded 7.82 million, while domestic visitors totaled about 25.88 million. Tourism revenue was estimated at over VND134.46 trillion, up 21.5% year-on-year.
