Hanoi students to resume school next week

Must read

HCMC – More than two million K-12 students in the capital city of Hanoi will return to school starting March 2 after an extended Tet holiday break due to the Covid-19 pandemic, according to the municipal government’s decision issued today, February 27.

Meanwhile, students of vocational schools will return to class on March 8. As for universities, they were told to decide on the time for their students to return to school. However, the city’s steering committee for Covid-19 infection prevention and control proposed the universities allow students to get back to school on March 15 to avoid a large number of students resuming school at the same time.

To prevent the risk of community transmission, parents need to check the body temperature of their children at home, provide face masks for them to wear on the way to school and back home and prepare personal belongings so they do not have to share stuff with their peers and can avoid infection. Besides this, schools have to clean up and disinfect their facilities, especially frequently touched surfaces and school buses.

As of February 26, Hanoi had gone 11 days without reporting any new Covid-19 community case. Its Covid-19 tally during the latest coronavirus wave stayed at 35 cases, mainly linked to two coronavirus outbreaks in Chi Linh City of Hai Duong Province and the Van Don International Airport in Quang Ninh Province.

To date, the Somerset Hotel in Tay Ho District and five local households in the outlying district of Me Linh remain under lockdown to prevent the spread of the disease. The lockdown imposed on these two places will be lifted tomorrow.
