HCMC – A 2,500-seat theater, with a total investment of VND2,000 billion, will be built in the capital city of Hanoi in 2026-2030.
The Hanoi City Opera House will be located on Vo Thi Sau Street in Bach Mai Ward, Hanoi, covering 9,000 square meters.
This is one of 1,058 projects with total capital of VND36,112 billion Hanoi will invest or support by 2030, implementing Resolution No. 80-NQ/TW of the Politburo on the development of Vietnamese culture. They include 250 projects (using the city budget) with total capital of VND20,942 billion; and 808 projects (using local budgets) with total capital of VND15,170 billion.
Hanoi currently has six theaters, but the existing venues were built 20 years ago and no longer meet technical standards while the demand for cultural enjoyment is on the rise.
Apart from the theater, Hanoi aims to complete the construction of the Kinh Thien Palace within the Thang Long Imperial Citadel World Heritage site; effectively operate the Olympic sports urban area; and maximize the effectiveness of the Red River scenic boulevard project, connecting it with ancient and craft villages, as well as historical sites among others.
