HCMC – Hanoi City will develop a bridge across the Red River and a road connecting with National Highway 32 in Phuc Tho District at a total cost of over VND3.4 trillion in the 2022-2027 period.
The Van Phuc bridge project was among 31 projects sourced from public investment, it was announced at a meeting held by the municipal People’s Council on December 8.
The 7.7-kilometer-long bridge and road project will start at the intersection with National Highway 32 in Phung Thuong Commune and end at the border between Hanoi and Vinh Phuc Province, according to the municipal government.
The bridge will have six lanes, while the road linking National Highway 32 will have eight lanes, the local media reported.
The Hanoi Management Board for Transportation Works Construction and Investment Projects was appointed as the investor of the project.
Once in place, the bridge will help facilitate goods transportation and boost socio-economic development in Hanoi, Vinh Phuc and other neighboring provinces.
Under the city’s traffic development plan, 10 bridges over the Red River will be built in the time to come. The city now has seven bridges across the river.
