HCMC – Hanoi City will launch digital ticketing for two of its metro lines on August 1, aiming to improve service efficiency and reduce costs.
The system will be introduced on the Cat Linh–Ha Dong (Line 2A) and Nhon–Hanoi Station (Line 3.1) routes, according to the city’s Department of Construction.
The e-tickets, available as daily and weekly passes, will be displayed on mobile phones and linked to user accounts. Passengers must register via the “Thẻ vé giao thông HN (Hanoi transport ticket)” app, select ticket options, and complete payment through QR code scanning.
Each ticket includes user information and a QR code that updates every 30 seconds. Valid tickets must be shown at stations for entry.
The change coincides with fare increases on both lines. Fares on Line 2A for non-cash payments range from VND8,595 to VND18,625. Cash fares rise to VND9,000 to VND19,000.
On Line 3.1, non-cash fares range from VND8,935 to VND14,290. Cash fares increase to VND9,000 to VND15,000.
Daily passes will cost VND40,000, up from VND30,000. Weekly passes will be introduced at VND160,000. Monthly passes will cost VND140,000 for priority users and VND280,000 for others, up from VND200,000.
Group tickets will be discontinued. Existing free-ride policies remain unchanged.
