HCMC – HCMC is targeting over 10% gross regional domestic product (GRDP) growth in 2025, with the digital economy projected to contribute 25% to the city’s GRDP, according to recent media reports.
The 34th meeting of the Executive Committee of the HCMC Party Committee concluded on December 4, with 22 key targets approved for sustainable development, quality of life, environmental protection, and digital transformation.
A GRDP growth target of over 10% was set for next year, with the digital economy contributing 25% to GRDP. By the end of 2025, the city will reduce the percentage of households living in poverty to below 0.5%.
Nine key tasks and solutions will focus on sustainable economic growth, strategic infrastructure development, and improvment of the quality of life.
Major infrastructure projects such as the International Financial Center, the urban railway system, the Can Gio international transshipment port, and Beltways No.3 and No.4 will get a boost.
Special attention will be given to removing hindrances to flood control and infrastructure projects ahead of the 50th anniversary of the liberation of the south of Vietnam and the reunification of the country on April 30.
HCMC’s development strategy will center on fostering a green and digital economy, advancing high-tech industries, and promoting innovation and entrepreneurship. The city also plans to enhance its business environment to attract talent and investment.
Cultural development and improving residents’ quality of life remain priorities, as the city aims to build a modern urban government that effectively serves its people.
