HCMC announces Covid transmission risk levels

The Saigon Times

Must read

HCMC – The HCMC government has announced the Covid-19 transmission risk levels for the city and 21 districts and Thu Duc City in line with the Government’s Resolution 128 and the Ministry of Health’s Decision 4800.

Specifically, as of October 24, HCMC was at moderate risk.

Thu Duc City, a jurisdiction under HCMC, and eight districts — Go Vap, Tan Binh, 1, 7, 8, 10, Can Gio and Cu Chi districts — were at moderate risk of Covid-19 community spread.

Twelve other districts — 3, 4, 5, 6, 11, 12, Phu Nhuan, Binh Thanh, Tan Phu, Hoc Mon, Nha Be and Binh Chanh — were at moderate risk.

Binh Tan was the only district at high risk of coronavirus transmission.

The HCMC government asked the relevant departments, the 21 districts and Thu Duc City to work out plans to adapt safely and flexibly to the pandemic based on their transmission risk assessments.

According to the HCMC Department of Health, the city recorded 7,113 new Covid-19 cases from October 14 to 20 and 10,381 cases in the previous week (from October 7 to 13). Meanwhile, the city’s population is 9.1 million people.

As for the criteria involving the number of community-infected cases out of 100,000 residents per week, the city had an average of 95.6 cases, or reaching the third level (from 50 to fewer than 150 cases).

As for the vaccination rate criteria, as of October 20, 98.9% of residents 18 and older in HCMC have got at least one Covid-19 vaccine dose and 92% of people 65 and older have been fully vaccinated. Thus, the proportion of residents at age 18 and above in the city has reached over 70% and in October, more than 80% of residents at 65 years of age and older have got two vaccine doses.

In addition, the city has plans to establish Covid-19 treatment facilities and ensure an adequate number of intensive care unit (ICU) beds to be prepared for the highest pandemic transmission risk.

Thu Duc City and all the districts have also worked out plans to set up pop-up healthcare stations and teams to take care of Covid-19 cases in the community and provide oxygen to health stations in communes, wards and towns.

The Covid-19 transmission risk levels in the city, 21 districts and Thu Duc City have been publicized on the city’s Covid-19 portal.
