HCMC announces event series celebrating Reunification Day

HCMC – The government of HCMC has issued a master plan for the celebration of the 50th anniversary of the liberation of south Vietnam and the reunification of the nation (April 30), which includes a military parade, a mass procession, and other key activities.

The national-level celebration, organized by the Party Central Committee, the National Assembly, the President, the Government, the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front, and HCMC, will take place from 6:30 a.m. on April 30 on Le Duan Boulevard in District 1 and surrounding main streets.

The program will also feature speeches by Party and State leaders, war veterans, and representatives of the younger generation, concluding with a symbolic release of balloons and doves, according to the Vietnam News Agency.

The city will host a range of meaningful activities, including a tribute ceremony with incense and flower offerings to commemorate fallen heroes at 8:00 a.m. on April 29.

The ceremony will take place at the City Martyrs’ Cemetery, the City Cemetery (Lac Canh), the Ben Duoc Memorial Temple, the Cu Chi District Martyrs’ Cemetery, the HCMC Policy Cemetery in Cu Chi District, and the Nga Ba Giong National Historic Site in Hoc Mon District.

The national-level tribute ceremony with incense and flower offerings in remembrance of President Ho Chi Minh and President Ton Duc Thang is scheduled for the afternoon of April 29.

Meanwhile, the city-level ceremony will take place at 9:30 a.m. the same day at the Ho Chi Minh Museum – HCMC Branch, the Ton Duc Thang Museum, the President Ho Chi Minh Statue Park, and Nguyen Hue Boulevard.

On April 30, HCMC will host a series of events, including the 37th edition of the HTV Cycling Cup at noon, themed “A Reunified Land”; a fireworks display in the evening; and a brass band performance combined with equestrian displays at 8:00 p.m. on Nguyen Hue and Le Loi boulevards.

In the lead up to the 50th anniversary of the liberation of south Vietnam and the reunification of the nation, the city will host several notable programs, including the event “The Peace Symphony” on April 5, the outdoor art performance “A Nation Rejoices” on April 20, the live TV broadcast “Echoes of Victory” on April 27, and a photo exhibition titled “Pride in a Borderland Nation.”

The city will also organize activities to honor the families of martyrs, war veterans, former youth volunteers, and contributors to the 1975 Spring General Offensive and Uprising. In addition, the city will inaugurate and break ground on numerous significant projects across various sectors.
