HCMC attracts over 4.5 million international tourists in Jan-Jul

HCMC – HCMC (prior to the merger of former HCMC, Binh Duong and Ba Ria-Vung Tau) has welcomed around 4.55 million foreign tourists so far this year, up 48% versus the year-ago period and fulfilling 53.6% of the year’s target.

The domestic tourism market also showed steady growth, with around 21.72 million local travelers visiting the city during the period, up 8.2% year-on-year and achieving 48.3% of the annual goal.

Tourism revenue from January to July has totaled VND140.3 trillion, rising 29.9% year-on-year and fulfilling 54% of the year’s plan.

In July alone, the city is estimated to have welcomed around 695,930 international visitors, a 75.3% increase year-on-year. Domestic tourist arrivals have reached 3.39 million, up 15%.

Thanks to the sharp increase in visitor numbers, tourism revenue for the month of July alone is projected to reach VND22.4 trillion, marking a 45.6% rise compared to the same period last year.

During the peak summer travel season, the city’s tourism sector has rolled out various programs targeting families, students, and young travelers.

Several tour operators and destinations have launched themed tours, promotional packages, and tailored experiences specifically designed for younger visitors.

Several new tourism routes and products continue to be explored and developed, including culinary tourism, medical tourism, and MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Exhibitions) travel.

Upcoming events include the 3rd HCMC River Festival, the 8th edition of the Techcombank HCMC International Marathon, as well as tourism promotion programs in the United States and Singapore.
