HCMC – HCMC’s special task force, established under Decision 936, has removed bottlenecks for 86 projects, paving the way for more than VND420 trillion in investment and clearing 1,200 hectares of land.
At a meeting of the HCMC People’s Committee today, August 9, which reviewed the city’s July socio-economic performance and set key tasks for August, the Department of Finance reported on efforts to address obstacles facing public and private investment projects.
According to the department, the city aimed this year to resolve half of the stalled projects under central authority and all those within its own jurisdiction. To meet the target, the city reorganized working groups, strengthened steering committees, and formed the special task force headed by Nguyen Van Duoc, chairman of the HCMC People’s Committee.
Before the task force’s intervention, the city had 571 projects struggling with problems, with 30 under central authority and 541 under city authority. Many faced delays due to policy changes, inspection and audit procedures, lack of inter-agency coordination, or issues in handling state-owned assets and land-use conversions.
The projects were classified into five categories for resolution: public investment, private investment and public-private partnerships; public assets; state-owned enterprise projects; projects under inspection, investigation, or trial; and large or prime land plots left unused.
Following the merger with Binh Duong and Ba Ria-Vung Tau, HCMC now has 838 projects and land plots with unresolved issues — 60 under central jurisdiction and 778 under city authority.
