HCMC – HCMC has imposed traffic restrictions on two key downtown streets for more than a month, starting March 22, as the city is preparing for the 50th anniversary of the liberation of south Vietnam and the reunification of the nation (April 30).
According to HCMC’s traffic police department, sections of Le Duan and Pasteur streets, near Ba Muoi Thang Tu Park in District 1, have been closed to allow construction of stages, grandstands, and other facilities for the celebrations.
The construction is divided into three phases.
Since March 22, construction crews have begun setting up technical infrastructure and erecting grandstands B, C, and others along Pasteur Street, between Le Duan and Alexandre De Rhodes.
From March 31 to May 12, further construction will take place on Pasteur Street between Han Thuyen and Le Duan.
From April 17, the city will remove road dividers on Le Duan Street to facilitate parade rehearsals, dry runs, and the official military parade. The area is scheduled to be cleared and restored between May 1 and May 12.
Alternate routes have been announced to redirect traffic through nearby streets, depending on the direction of travel.
Police have urged citizens to reduce speed, follow traffic signage and instructions from officers on duty while traveling through the affected areas. Traffic management measures will be in place to minimize disruptions and ensure safety during the preparations for the event.
