HCMC considers mobilizing recovered Covid-19 patients as volunteers

Must read

HCMC – The HCMC government is considering mobilizing recovered Covid-19 patients as volunteers in the fight against the pandemic in the city and has asked the municipal Department of Health to suggest this to the municipal steering committee for Covid-19 infection prevention and control.

The department must also coordinate with the Ministry of Health’s team in HCMC to review Covid-19 treatment facilities to propose the arrangement of medical workers, patient transfer and treatment processes and the use of medicines at these facilities, the local media reported.

In addition, it will regularly update information on the ability of treatment facilities to receive Covid-19 patients to improve their classification, admission and treatment, especially critical ones. HCMC Chairman Nguyen Thanh Phong asked the department to report the results before August 13.

The city’s group in charge of arranging personnel in the fight against the pandemic had earlier reported that the city was in need of an additional 12,000 people to combat the pandemic, including 2,800 doctors, 8,200 nurses and technicians and 1,000 lecturers and students from medical schools.

Therefore, the group proposed the Ministry of Health continue mobilizing personnel from other localities to support HCMC, especially doctors and nurses specializing in recuperation.

The ministry should also call on hospitals which have sent their medical workers to HCMC to continue supporting the city until the pandemic is brought under control. They can replace these medical workers with others.

In addition, the city suggested the Ministry of National Defense and a special working team of the Government assign more medical workers for field hospitals, Covid-19 treatment hospitals and tracing, testing and vaccination teams.

According to the municipal Center for Disease Control, as of this morning, August 12, the city had 135,930 Covid-19 patients, including nearly 63,000 recoveries.
