HCMC – HCMC has received four titles at the 2025 World Travel Awards, reinforcing its role as a major tourism destination in Asia, reported the Vietnam News Agency.
The city was named Asia’s Leading Business Travel Destination and Asia’s Leading Festival and Event Destination for the fourth consecutive year. The HCMC Department of Tourism won Asia’s Leading City Tourist Board for the third year in a row, while Vung Tau was recognized as Asia’s Leading Short Break City Destination.
HCMC’s tourism sector has focused on upgrading products and services from 2020 to 2025 to strengthen its “Tourism City” brand.
Earlier this year, the HCMC River Festival 2024 received two Gold Awards at the International Business Awards 2025, one of few Vietnamese events to gain dual international recognition.
In the first nine months of the year, HCMC saw 5.3 million international visitors and 32 million domestic travelers, generating more than VND184 trillion in revenue. The city targets seven million international and 40 million domestic visitors for the year.
At the same event, Vietnam was named Asia’s Leading Destination for the seventh time and Asia’s Leading Heritage Destination for the third time.
Other local destinations were also honored. Hanoi City was named Asia’s Leading City Destination and Leading Short Break Destination. Hoi An received Asia’s Leading Cultural City Destination award. Ninh Binh was recognized as Asia’s Leading Emerging Destination, and Van Don International Airport as Asia’s Leading Regional Airport.
The World Travel Awards, established in 1993, recognize excellence in travel, tourism, and hospitality based on votes from industry professionals and global travelers.
