HCMC – HCMC traffic police handled more than 10,200 traffic violations during the nine-day Lunar New Year (Tet) holiday, including over 4,800 cases involving driving under the influence of alcohol and drugs, reported the Vietnam News Agency.
The violations were recorded during a peak enforcement campaign launched to ensure traffic safety during the holiday, according to the city’s Traffic Police Division.
Authorities temporarily impounded five cars, 4,636 motorcycles, and 301 other vehicles. Police also issued more than 970 fines based on camera footage, revoked 950 driver’s licenses, and deducted points from 1,641 driver’s licenses.
Alcohol-related offenses accounted for 4,798 cases, while 23 involved drug use. Police also handled four overloading violations.
The division reported 28 traffic accidents, including collisions, during the holiday period. These accidents killed 12 people and injured 16 others. Compared with the Tet holiday in 2025, accidents fell by six cases and fatalities declined by nine. No accidents were recorded on railways or inland waterways.
