HCMC — The 22nd HCMC Tourism Festival was opened on April 2, featuring more than 150 booths of businesses and localities.
The event focuses on meeting the travel demand during the upcoming holiday on occasion of April 30 (Vietnam’s Reunification Day) and May 1 (International Labor Day) and the summer season.
Major travel firms including Saigontourist, Vietravel, and BenThanh Tourist have launched aggressive promotion packages. International tours have been slashed by up to VND10 million per guest, with 50% discounts for the sixth traveler in a group.
In response to rising airfares, they center on road and rail tours.
There is also a strong focus on green and community-based tourism in the Mekong Delta to enhance travelers’ experience. Following a successful first quarter with nearly 20 million visitors, the festival is expected to be a major lever for HCMC’s tourism to achieve explosive growth this summer.
