HCMC – HCMC’s Metro Line 1, connecting Ben Thanh Market and Suoi Tien Theme Park, has increased its frequency and adjusted schedules to accommodate a sharp rise in passenger traffic during Tet, Vietnam’s Lunar New Year holiday.

Since its commercial launch on December 22, 2024, the urban railway has served millions of riders, with particularly high demand on January 29 and 30, the first and second days of the Lunar New Year.

Despite being in operation for over a month, public enthusiasm remains strong, especially during the Tet holiday, prompting the city’s Department of Transport, the HCMC Public Transport Management Center, and HCMC Urban Railway No. 1 Company Ltd. (HURC) to adjust the operating schedule and increase train frequency to ease congestion.

From January 31 to February 2, the metro line will operate with trains running every 18 minutes from 5:00 a.m. to 7:30 a.m., every 15 minutes from 7:30 a.m. to 8:40 a.m., every 12 minutes from 8:40 a.m. to 9:40 a.m., and every 10 minutes from 9:40 a.m. to 10:00 p.m.

On January 30, adjustments were also made when trains ran every nine minutes between 12:00 p.m. and 3:00 p.m., and again from 6:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m., while the interval was set at 12 minutes between 3:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m.

Authorities continue to monitor ridership patterns and are prepared to make further adjustments if necessary.
