HCMC – HCMC is mobilizing all resources and accelerating preparations for the 50th anniversary celebration of the liberation of the south and the reunification of the nation on April 30.
Nguyen Van Nen, Politburo member and secretary of the HCMC Party Committee, chaired a meeting on April 24 to review progress and assess preparations for the upcoming celebrations, including the parade and march marking the historic event.
After listening to reports and feedback from delegates, he commended the responsibility, initiative, and efforts demonstrated by relevant agencies and units in making the preparations.
All tasks have been carried out promptly, closely following guidance from both the central government and the city, and meeting the required progress and quality standards, he noted.
At this time, the festive and jubilant atmosphere in HCMC is spreading across the country and even to overseas Vietnamese communities and international friends. “This is a motivation for HCMC to continue striving and making even greater efforts,” Nen emphasized.
He said that HCMC has focused on strengthening information and communication efforts related to the upcoming anniversary. The city has highlighted key historical milestones and emphasized the values of peace, independence, and national unity. Communication efforts have effectively delivered timely information and images to people from all walks of life.
However, as time is running short, HCMC Party Secretary Nguyen Van Nen emphasized the need for all units to maintain maximum focus and ensure that all tasks are completed thoroughly and carefully.
He called on every official, civil servant, and staff member to adopt the mindset of “finishing the job, not just working until the clock runs out,” and to be ready to work in shifts to meet the deadlines.
“Each official, civil servant, and staff member should see this as a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to contribute,” he said, stressing that HCMC must mobilize all available resources, uphold a strong sense of responsibility, and ensure close coordination to successfully organize the 50th anniversary celebration of Reunification Day.
Regarding key tasks, Nen instructed the Party Committee and the Standing Board of the People’s Committee to urgently conduct a comprehensive review of all activities related to the anniversary celebrations across the city. All events must be held with the highest standards of safety and security.
All aspects—from program content, invitations, gifts, stage setup, stands, canopies, logistics, medical services, to sanitation—must be thoroughly checked to prevent any errors. In particular, the rehearsals on April 25 and April 27 must be closely coordinated, strictly follow the planned scenarios, and ensure absolute safety.
At the same time, preparations must be thorough for other aspects, from guest reception and seating arrangements to healthcare services. All equipment, including machinery and sound systems, must be tested in advance to ensure smooth operation.
He urged relevant departments to conduct a thorough review, starting with rechecking invitations sent to delegates and guests to prevent any oversight and avoid causing inconvenience, especially for guests coming from afar.
In addition, it is crucial to proactively coordinate closely with central agencies, local authorities, and relevant organizations to ensure that the reception and hospitality for Party and State leaders, domestic delegates, and international guests are conducted thoughtfully, respectfully, and with absolute safety, reflecting the city’s culture, tradition of warmth, and hospitality.
Due to the limited capacity of the event venue, the secretary of the HCMC Party Committee expressed hope that individuals, families of contributors, and historical witnesses who have not been invited to attend in person will understand and sympathize with the city.
Acknowledging that preparations for the anniversary celebration have, to some extent, affected the daily lives of residents, Nen also expressed gratitude for the understanding, support, and cooperation of the people of HCMC, which have enabled the city to make thorough preparations for the upcoming celebration.
