HCMC – The authorities of HCMC will use two mobile apps—Y te HCM (HCMC Health) and VNEID—to monitor commuting and production activities from today, September 30, until PC-Covid, the National Covid-19 prevention and control mobile application of Vietnam, is officially launched, said a city official.
Speaking at a press briefing held today on the city’s reopening plan after September 30, Vo Thi Trung Trinh, deputy director of the municipal Department of Information and Communications, said the Y te HCM app will be used to serve daily travel in the city.
This app will display information linked to vaccination records and recovered Covid patients. Accordingly, aside from vaccinated residents, the app will support recovered cases who are eligible to commute.
From now till October 15, the city asked all State agencies, businesses and manufacturing facilities that are allowed to reopen to register their QR codes on the website http://antoan-covid.tphcm.gov.vn.
By October 15, these agencies and businesses have to scan the QR codes of people visiting their facilities for work or transactions via the Y te HCMC or PC-Covid app to organize and monitor their operations.
Once the PC-Covid app, which is applicable for people living and traveling in Vietnam, is officially put into use, the city dwellers will switch to using this app, Trinh added.
During the transition from the Y te HCMC and VNEID apps to the PC-Covid app, people only need to declare their phone numbers and personal information, and the data will automatically be switched to the PC-Covid app.
As for the VNEID app, it will be used to monitor commuting activities as a replacement for travel permits, said Nguyen Sy Quang, deputy director of the HCMC Police Department.
To ensure convenience for people while commuting and avoid traffic congestion, people who do not have a QR code can present other related papers to be eligible to commute. The city will continue to maintain the operations of 12 main Covid checkpoints in the city’s areas bordering with other provinces and 39 other sub-checkpoints in districts citywide.
The checkpoints in the inner-city areas will be removed after September 30, but the city’s police will ramp up patrols along streets in the city as well as set up mobile checkpoints.
For people aged under 18 who are mostly high school students, as education facilities remain shut and they are not eligible to ride motorcycles, so they are asked to refrain from venturing out for non-essential purposes, said Le Hoa Binh, vice chairman of the municipal government.
