HCMC – Work on 40 packages of 22 key traffic infrastructure projects in HCMC would be resumed between September 28 and October 15 after a months-long suspension caused by the Covid-19 pandemic.
Luong Minh Phuc, director of the Transportation Works Construction Investment Project Management Authority of HCMC, the investor of these projects, said the projects would be restarted as the investor, contractors and consultants had met pandemic prevention and control criteria, the local media reported.
Projects to upgrade the Nuoc Den Canal in Binh Tan District, the new Hang Ngoai bridge in Go Vap District and the 1.4km section of the Thanh Da Park in Binh Thanh District, and three packages of a project to expand and upgrade the Tran Van Muoi Street in Hoc Mon District are expected to be completed before December 31.
Two other projects which have been resumed and are expected to be put into operation before the Lunar New Year include a project to repair the Dang Thuc Vinh Street in Hoc Mon and a branch of the Bung Bridge. The two projects require respective investment of nearly VND700 billion and over VND514 billion.
Work has also been resumed on three landslide control projects in the Thanh Da area, the anti-landslide embankment along the Saigon River, the second branch of the Kenh B Bridge, and the second phase of a project to improve the city’s water environment.
From August 17, HCMC maintained work on some urgent projects, including an overpass in front of the new Mien Dong Coach Station, infrastructure facilities on nine land lots of the Thu Thiem New Urban Area in Thu Duc City and a tunnel at the intersection of the Nguyen Van Linh and Nguyen Huu Tho streets in District 7.
In addition, work has been kept ongoing on the first metro line, the Thu Thiem 2 bridge, a project to upgrade runways at the Tan Son Nhat International Airport and the anti-pandemic projects.
The city has issued criteria on projects to restart. Accordingly, projects in low-risk areas can be executed but all workers must have got fully vaccinated against Covid-19, must be tested regularly and comply with anti-pandemic measures.
