HCMC – Major retailers and distribution chains in HCMC have been ramping up supplies to the northern provinces battered by typhoon Yagi while prices have been kept stable, reported the local media.

Saigon Co.op announced that it has tripled stockpiling at its Co.opmart stores in the north of the nation, prioritizing key items such as vegetables, rice, instant noodles, sugar and cooking oil. Supermarkets in the areas without electricity are using generators to supply frozen pork and chicken, replacing fresh meats where necessary.

To address transportation disruptions, Co.opmart is collaborating with customers to find alternative delivery methods. The retailer is also running promotions, with discounts of up to 35% on noodles, canned meat and household items.

GO! and Big C supermarkets have doubled their vegetable supplies to the north, sending around 75-80 tons of produce from Dalat each day.

Meanwhile, MM Mega Market has increased its daily shipments of fresh food from southern provinces, delivering 16 tons of vegetables to Hanoi each day.
