HCMC – HCMC’s tourism industry has launched its first digital visitor data tracking system to enhance promotional effectiveness, improve market forecasting, and support destination development through data-driven insights.
The HCMC Tourism Promotion Center (HTPC) and The Outbox Company on July 28 announced their collaboration to launch the HCMC Global Traveler Barometer (HCMC GTB), a system designed to monitor international tourist data.
This is the first system in Vietnam dedicated to tracking and forecasting target tourist markets, marking a major step forward in digital-driven tourism promotion efforts.
It focuses on forecasting international visitor demand and readiness, while also tracking traveler behavior, preferences, and perceptions of destinations.
In 2025, the system will pilot data tracking from 13 key markets, including South Korea, Japan, Australia, China, Europe, the U.S., Canada, and Southeast Asia.
This serves as a vital source of information, enabling the city’s tourism sector to stay abreast of market trends, measure the effectiveness of communication campaigns, and benchmark its destination image against others in the region.
Data will be collected through early-stage surveys, in-depth analysis, and biannual updates, supporting the development of effective and flexible tourism strategies.
The project is expected to play a key role in policy planning, promotional strategy formulation, and enhancing the city’s competitiveness in the post-merger period.
According to the HCMC Department of Tourism, the city attracted 695,930 international visitors in July, up 75.3% compared to the same period last year.
This is the first set of statistics released following the city’s merger with Binh Duong and Ba Ria-Vung Tau.
In the first seven months of 2025, HCMC is estimated to have received over 4.5 million international visitors, up 48% year-on-year, and reaching nearly 54% of the annual target.
