HCMC – The HCMC Department of Culture and Sports is seeking investors for five cultural and sports projects under the public-private partnership (PPP) format, according to an investment promotion conference held on October 15.
The combined cost of these five projects is estimated at nearly VND2,352 billion.
One of the key projects is the construction of a Cultural and Sports Center in Can Gio District, at an estimated cost of VND1,642 billion.
Another major initiative is the HCMC Cultural and Arts Center in Thu Thiem Ward, Thu Duc City, which will span nearly 18,000 square meters and accommodate 3,000 spectators. The center is set to host large-scale cultural and arts events.
Other proposed projects include the HCMC Cultural Center in District 1, with an estimated cost of VND295 billion, the Gia Dinh Theater in Binh Thanh District at VND250 billion, and the A-B Labor Performing Arts Center in District 5 at VND164 billion.
Phan Van Mai, chairman of the HCMC People’s Committee, emphasized the city’s potential in cultural development given HCMC’s status as a major economic and cultural hub. “HCMC has not yet been able to host events like the SEA Games or major international cultural and sports events,” he said, referring to the lack of major sports venues.
The city is looking to mobilize private resources to enhance its cultural and sports sectors, elevate its image, and support its goal of becoming a modern, integrated city.
