HCMC – HCMC has formed a task force to lead its green transition strategy as part of efforts to reach net-zero emissions by 2050, reported the local media.

The 10-member task force will be headed by Truong Minh Huy Vu, director of the HCMC Institute for Development Studies. It will advise on strategic planning and implement policies to promote a green economy.

The group is tasked with drafting a green transition roadmap and coordinating regional efforts with the provinces of Binh Duong and Ba Ria–Vung Tau. Its plan will cover the period through 2030 with a long-term outlook to 2050.

It will also organize policy dialogues, training sessions, and public communication campaigns. The task force is expected to support international cooperation and report progress regularly to city authorities.

The city has set targets to cut greenhouse gas emissions by 10% by 2030 and achieve carbon neutrality by 2050.

Key initiatives include shifting to electric vehicles and developing an ecological urban area in Can Gio.
