HCMC – HCMC has begun work on a VND497-billion project to replace the deteriorating Rach Tom steel bridge in Hiep Phuoc Commune (in former Nha Be District).

The HCMC Management Board for Traffic Works Construction Investment, in coordination with Hiep Phuoc Commune and other agencies, held a groundbreaking ceremony for the new bridge today, July 10.

The new bridge, 174 meters long and 15 meters wide, would have four traffic lanes and include approach roads and related infrastructure, bringing the total length to 684 meters.

VND141 billion will go to bridge construction work and VND226 billion to site clearance.

The existing Rach Tom Bridge on Le Van Luong Street has become a traffic bottleneck due to growing vehicle volume.

To date, 83 out of 111 affected households have agreed to compensation rates. Local authorities are working to complete land handover by September 30.

The bridge is slated for completion by late 2026. Once in opperational, it will help complete the Le Van Luong traffic corridor and facilitate inter-provincial mobility, along with the completed Long Kieng and Rach Dia bridges.
