HCMC – The HCMC government has ordered districts to proactively track down people who have traveled or returned to the city from Danang City since July 1 and ask them to make health declarations.
Speaking at a meeting held by the municipal steering committee for Covid-19 infection prevention and control on July 28, HCMC Vice Chairman Le Thanh Liem told the authorities of districts to “visit every alley and knock on every door” to enhance tracing efforts.
The municipal government also asked the health authorities to conduct large-scale tests on individuals who are developing symptoms of respiratory diseases and suspected cases of Covid-19 infection to prevent the spread of the coronavirus, Tuoi Tre Online reported.
Addressing the meeting, Nguyen Tan Binh, director of the HCMC Department of Health, said that some 4,900 people have made health declarations, declaring that they had visited Danang City in July, according to Thanh Nien Online.
Between July 25 to 27, as many as 112 flights transporting 18,220 passengers stranded in Danang City landed at Tan Son Nhat International Airport in HCMC.
Chairing the meeting, HCMC Party Committee Secretary Nguyen Thien Nhan said that due to the complicated development of Covid-19, residents should reduce private freedom and adopt Covid-19 infection prevention measures to effectively ward off the coronavirus outbreak and ensure social security.
Nhan also encouraged residents to inform the authorities of those who have illegally entered the city to avoid the community transmission of Covid-19 as foreigners’ illegal immigration is expected to put the city at high risk of infection.
