HCMC – The government of HCMC issued an urgent dispatch on June 16, asking the authorities of Thu Duc City and the districts in HCMC to ramp up efforts to check compliance with Covid-19 safety regulations and and seriously tackle violators, as the coronavirus is still spreading in the city.
The HCMC government earlier directed the local competent forces to take aggressive measures in the Covid-19 fight. However, new chains of community infection with the Delta variant of the coronavirus were recently discovered in some parts of the city, making the Covid-19 fight more strenuous as the Delta variant, which was first detected in India, is far more transmissible than other variants.
Even though the city has been practicing social distancing since early this month, many violations of anti-virus rules have been found but they have not been addressed strictly and promptly, such as non-compliance with the masking mandate and large gatherings at eateries and coffee shops, reported Nguoi Lao Dong newspaper.
The municipal government also demanded that anti-virus teams at the grassroots level and local competent forces intensify compliance checks, raise public awareness of the clear and present danger of Covid-19, and strictly tackle violations of anti-Covid-19 regulations.
The authorities at all levels must monitor activities at local wet and wholesale markets to prevent the community spread of the deadly virus.
Besides this, the HCMC government asked Public Service Co., Ltd to ensure that garbage collection at concentrated quarantine centers and areas under lockdown complies with the prevailing regulations.
Further, the leaders of Thu Duc City and the districts will be held accountable for any violations in the areas under their management.
