HCMC – The construction of the HCMC-Thu Dau Mot-Chon Thanh Expressway, the first highway for fast traffic connecting HCMC, Binh Duong and Binh Phuoc, has been put on fast track, according to local media reports.
On September 26, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh led a delegation to survey the expressway project.
The 60-kilometer expressway will have six traffic lanes and two emergency stopping lanes but in the first phase, the road will have four traffic lanes, plus two emergency stopping lanes, and allow for a maximum speed of 100 km per hour.
The entire project would be completed by 2030.
The expressway’s longest stretch, over 52 km, will pass through Binh Duong Province.
Site clearance is being expedited to facilitate construction, with work on the Binh Duong section expected to begin this year.
Meanwhile, HCMC is reviewing plans to allocate funds for the construction of access roads to the expressway. Binh Phuoc Province is also advancing preparations for its part of the project.
