HCMC – HCMC will begin work on four major infrastructure projects this year, which will require a total of VND42 trillion, according to news reports.

The projects include Beltway No. 2, Nguyen Khoai Bridge and Road, Xuyen Tam Canal rehabilitation, and the northern bank of Kenh Doi. These developments aim to enhance transportation, urban infrastructure, and economic growth.

The VND3.7-trillion Nguyen Khoai Bridge and Road project will connect districts 7, 4, and 1. Construction is set to begin in the fourth quarter of this year.

With a total length of nearly five kilometers, the project includes a 2.5 km bridge and a 2.3 km road. The route will start at D1 Road, linking Saigon University with Nguyen Van Linh Street and the Him Lam residential area in District 7. The main bridge will cross Te Canal as an elevated structure along Nguyen Khoai Street, extending over Ben Nghe Canal and merging into Vo Van Kiet Avenue in District 1.

Additional ramps will connect to Tran Xuan Soan, Ton That Thuyet, and Vo Van Kiet roads. The project is expected to ease congestion in District 4 and improve traffic flow in districts 7, 8, and Nha Be.

HCMC will develop two sections of Beltway No. 2 through Thu Duc City. The first section will run 3.5 km from Phu Huu Bridge to Vo Nguyen Giap Highway, and the second will span 2.8 km from Vo Nguyen Giap to Pham Van Dong Street.

With a total investment of VND13.8 trillion, including VND7.5 trillion for land clearance, authorities plan to acquire 61 hectares of land, affecting 1,166 households. Construction is scheduled to begin in Q3 2025, with completion expected by 2027.

The beltway project is designed to reduce congestion and improve connectivity to key ports, including Cat Lai, Phu Huu, and Truong Tho.
