HCMC to break ground on over 5,500 social homes in January

HCMC – HCMC will begin work on three social housing projects with a total of 5,568 apartment units before January 19, 2026, the city’s Department of Construction said.

The three projects are part of the city’s plan to expand housing supply for low-income people.

One project, Social Housing – Dinh Hoa Area 3 (Phase 1), will have 1,178 units. It will be built on 9,515 square meters and consist of three 20-storey blocks, with capacity for about 1,350 residents.

Another project, Social Housing – Dinh Hoa Area 4, will include 3,190 units on 25,701 square meters. It will comprise eight 20-storey buildings with a total floor area of 182,848 square meters and a maximum population of around 3,681 people.

The third project, My Xuan B1 Social Housing, will have an investment of about VND850 billion. It will provide 1,200 units ranging from 25 to 65 square meters, built on 34,260 square meters, and include three 15-storey buildings.

In 2026, HCMC plans to launch sales of more than 17,000 new social housing units, according to the Department of Construction.

City authorities are accelerating project implementation, focusing on completing investment procedures for 47 projects that have received policy approval, with a combined scale of about 34,000 apartments.

In 2025, the city completed 13,040 social housing units, bringing the total completed during the 2021–2025 period to 18,143 units.

The city said it has prepared land, completed legal procedures and applied incentive policies to attract businesses to social housing development. Its target for 2026 is to develop 28,500 social housing units under assigned quotas.
