HCMC – HCMC will hold its first “City Sale” event at the Ben Thanh metro station, offering discounts of up to 80% on goods from more than 500 domestic and international brands, according to the city’s Department of Industry and Trade.
The 15-day event, organized by the department, will start on August 28 at Metro Line No. 1’s Ben Thanh station on the Ben Thanh–Suoi Tien route. It is part of the city’s “Shopping Season – Summer Shopping 2025” promotion program and is expected to draw 30% to 50% more visitors. It will feature products ranging from cosmetics and fashion to household items.
Retail sales in July were estimated at VND82.7 trillion, up 1% from June and 16.2% year-on-year. Total retail sales in the first seven months of 2025 reached VND554.7 trillion, a 14.8% increase from the same period last year, the department said.
Food and beverage sales rose 18% in the seven-month period, apparel 13.9%, household appliances 24.3%, and cultural and educational products 25.3%.
The city’s industrial index of production in July increased 3.4% from June and 8.7% from a year earlier. Industrial output in the first seven months grew 5.4% year-on-year.
The shopping season campaign runs through September 15 and will resume from November 15 to December 31, allowing businesses to offer deeper discounts to stimulate spending.
