HCMC – Deputy Director of the HCMC Culture and Sports Department Nguyen Ngoc Hoi on February 14 inspected the construction and final preparations for the Tet Book Street 2026, which is scheduled to open on the evening of February 15.

Hoi, together with the city’s Art Council, reviewed the site and preparations for the launch of the Tet book street.

The inspection team acknowledged the efforts of participating units in the Tet Book Street Festival, including bookstores, publishers, the HCMC General Sciences Library, the Ho Chi Minh Museum – HCMC Branch, and the HCMC Journalists Association.

The delegation made several recommendations for adjustments and additions to ensure the book street operates smoothly and serves residents and tourists effectively from the evening of February 15.

According to Hoi, the organizing committee prioritizes security, order and environmental sanitation. An information booth is available to provide guidance on different areas of the book street and to handle urgent issues involving visitors, such as health concerns or lost children.

During the event, all participating bookstores will offer discounts ranging from 10% to 30%. Non-cash payments are being encouraged with various incentives. A “Meaningful Book ATM” area will provide book gifts on the first day of the Lunar New Year (Tet) and free reading cards through code activation on mobile devices.

The book street will also feature a children’s play area with folk games and book giveaways, along with a stage for exchanges and performances during both daytime and evening hours.
