HCMC — HCMC comes first nationwide in Vietnam’s 2024 Digital Transformation Index before administrative mergers (DTI), the Ministry of Science and Technology said on October 21.

The DTI evaluation covered 63 provinces and cities before the recent provincial mergers, and 34 localities after the mergers. HCMC led the first group and placed fourth in the second.

The index measures digital transformation across three pillars: digital government, digital economy, and digital society. It is based on seven main indicators and 47 sub-indicators, with a maximum score of 1,000.

The results show HCMC performed strongly in all three categories, both before and after Binh Duong and Ba Ria-Vung Tau provinces were merged into HCMC.

According to the city’s Department of Science and Technology, the results reflect efforts to integrate data systems and improve digital governance as the city adjusts to its new administrative framework.

The ministry said the index helps track progress in digital transformation and supports provinces and cities in identifying areas for improvement.
