HCMC – The HCMC government has intensified efforts to accelerate public investment disbursement, issuing warnings to several agencies that have failed to meet their disbursement targets.
The city has fallen behind its disbursement goal for the year, with only 15.2% of the allocated budget spent by the end of July.
The shortfall has prompted the city’s People’s Committee to issue a directive urging relevant departments and project owners to work harder to speed up capital disbursements.
Eleven agencies have been identified for special attention, as their disbursement plans for 2024 fall short of the 95% target. These agencies have been ordered to revise their plans and take immediate measures to step up project implementation.
The city’s leadership has pointed out delays in addressing obstacles related to public investment, which have hindered the overall disbursement rate. Sixty proposals for public investment projects have missed their deadlines and remain unresolved.
Priority has been given to key infrastructure projects, such as the dredging and environmental improvement of the Xuyen Tam Canal in Binh Thanh and Go Vap districts, and the dredging of the northern bank of the Doi Canal in District 8.
Authorities have stressed the importance of faster procedures for land clearance compensation to ensure these projects can proceed as planned in 2024.
