HCMC – HCMC has proposed extending Vingroup’s electric bus pilot program until the end of the first quarter of 2025.

Initially launched in March 2022, the program was designed to test electric public transport in the city over a 24-month period.

VinBus, a subsidiary of Vingroup, introduced the first subsidized electric bus route, D4, under this trial. Despite some challenges, the city government has reported positive outcomes, particularly in terms of zero emissions and reduced pollution.

In light of these benefits, the city has requested Vingroup to continue operating the electric buses and provide feedback on how to improve service quality. This feedback will be used to enhance HCMC’s transport infrastructure in a more environmentally friendly manner.

The formal proposal to extend the trial was submitted in early August 2024. City officials underscored the significance of the electric bus initiative in fostering green and sustainable urban development.
