HCMC – Vietnam has not recorded any new Covid-19 case by community transmission for 21 consecutive days, keeping the country’s tally unchanged at 1,068 as of yesterday morning, September 23, said the Health Ministry.
A report from the ministry’s national steering committee for Covid-19 infection prevention and control also showed that 23 more Covid-19 patients have fully recovered and were discharged from hospitals, raising the country’s total recoveries to 980 up to now.
Coronavirus outbreaks throughout the country have been put under control. However, a risk of community transmission remains if local residents especially those in major cities ignore preventive measures such as wearing masks when going out and restricting non-essential large gatherings.
Besides this, localities that had reported Covid-19 cases have eased social distancing measures.
The ministry added that there are no critically-ill Covid-19 patients at present.
To date, 35 patients have died due to the novel coronavirus, with most of them being old and suffering from multiple underlying medical conditions.
