HCMC – Temperatures in HCMC and other southern localities are expected to range from 33 to 36 degrees Celsius while humidity will drop to 35–50% in coming days.
On March 23, HCMC recorded intense heat with no rainfall. At Tan Son Nhat station, temperatures peaked at 35 degree Celsius and humidity dropped to 39%, while Nha Be recorded 33.7 degree Celsius.
In the next 48 hours, the city is expected to see highs of 34-36 degree Celsius, particularly between 11 a.m. and 3 p.m., with specific areas like Binh Tho and An Phu reaching 36 degrees Celsius.
“The region is expected to experience its most severe heat from late March through April,” meteorologist Le Thi Xuan Lan said, adding that the region will gradually transition into the rainy season, with daytime heat persisting alongside increasing chances of thunderstorms, lightning and strong gusts in the late afternoon. By May, temperatures are expected to subside as seasonal rains begin.
In response, residents in HCMC are adjusting their daily routines to cope with the sweltering conditions. Experts advise limiting outdoor activities between 10 a.m. and 3 p.m., staying hydrated, and employing protective measures, while monitoring weather updates.
Meanwhile, the weather agency has issued a hydrological alert for the Saigon River. High tides are expected to peak near or above warning level 1 through March 23 and 24, increasing the risk of localized flooding in low-lying and riverside areas, which may disrupt traffic and activities.
