Heatwave forecast to sweep southern Vietnam

HCMC – A heatwave is forecast to hit southern Vietnam on the fifth day of the Lunar New Year (Tet), with temperatures in some parts exceeding 35 degrees Celsius, according to the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting.

In the southern region, temperatures will range from 22 to 25 degrees Celsius at the lowest and from 31 to 34 degrees Celsius at the highest, with some eastern localities exceeding 35 degrees Celsius. It is sunny during the day, with localized heat in the eastern area, and dry at night. Northeasterly to easterly winds of force two to three are forecast.

In HCMC, temperatures will range from 23 to 25 degrees Celsius at the lowest and from 31 to 34 degrees Celsius at the highest, with some places above 34 degrees Celsius. The city will have sunny days and no rain at night.

The Central Highlands will record lows of 16 to 19 degrees Celsius and highs of 28 to 31 degrees Celsius. It is sunny during the day and dry at night.

The south-central coastal region will see temperatures ranging from 21 to 24 degrees Celsius at the lowest and from 27 to 30 degrees Celsius at the highest, with some places above 30 degrees Celsius. The northern part of the region will be cloudy with light rain in some areas and sunshine in the afternoon, while the southern part will see daytime sunshine and no rain at night.

From Thanh Hoa to Hue, temperatures will range from 18 to 21 degrees Celsius at the lowest and from 24 to 27 degrees Celsius at the highest. The area will have considerable cloud cover, light rain in some places, morning fog, and afternoon sunshine.

In northern Vietnam, light rain is forecast in some areas from February 21 to 22, with scattered morning mist and fog and sunshine in the afternoon. Mountainous and midland areas are expected to have scattered showers and isolated thunderstorms on February 22. Cold conditions will persist at night and in the early morning.

In Hanoi, light rain is forecast in some places, with light fog in the early morning and clearer skies with sunshine in the afternoon. Temperatures will range from 18 to 20 degrees Celsius at the lowest and from 23 to 26 degrees Celsius at the highest. Cold conditions are expected in the morning and at night.

The northwestern region will record lows of 16 to 19 degrees Celsius, with some places below 15 degrees Celsius, and highs of 23 to 26 degrees Celsius, with some areas exceeding 26 degrees Celsius. Light rain is forecast in some areas, with morning fog and afternoon sunshine. Cold weather is expected at night and in the morning.
