Herbalife Vietnam, a premier health and wellness company, is marking its 15th anniversary in Vietnam. Beyond its business endeavors and economic empowerment opportunities, community support remains a cornerstone of its mission to promote the health and well-being of the Vietnamese people.
This commitment is reflected in various initiatives aligned with Herbalife’s global corporate social responsibility (CSR) priorities, which aim to uplift vulnerable communities in Vietnam. These initiatives include financial support to improve the daily meals of children and those in need through the Casa Herbalife Vietnam Program, an annual blood donation campaign, reduction of single-use plastic waste with the Go Green Campaign, and relief aid for those affected by typhoon Yagi in northern Vietnam.
“Throughout our 15 years of operations in Vietnam, we are proud to have key initiatives that foster the health and wellbeing of people and vulnerable communities, and support a thriving planet,” said Vu Van Thang, general manager for Herbalife Vietnam and Cambodia.
Casa Herbalife Vietnam Program
Launched in 2013, the Casa Herbalife Vietnam Program has been pivotal in improving the daily nutrition of children and other disadvantaged individuals through financial assistance. The company is expected to have 15 Casa Herbalife centers across the country by the end of 2024, helping over 3,000 individuals with a total grant of more than US$1 million (equivalent to more than VND25 billion).
In addition to financial aid, Herbalife Vietnam’s Independent Members and employees regularly visit these centers during special occasions like Lunar New Year, International Children’s Day, and the Mid-Autumn Festival to organize activities that bring joy to the residents.
“We are very proud and delighted that the Casa Herbalife Program has not only been sustained but has expanded over the past decade in Vietnam. We attribute the success of this meaningful program to the kind hearts and unwavering support of our Independent Members and employees,” said Vu Van Thang.
Supporting vulnerable communities
In its most recent relief efforts, Herbalife Vietnam contributed VND2.86 billion (approximately US$116,000) to support people affected by typhoon Yagi and floods in northern Vietnam. This includes VND857 million contributed by Herbalife Vietnam’s Independent Members and employees. These efforts reflect Herbalife’s long-term commitment to aiding vulnerable communities and align with the Vietnamese tradition of assisting the less fortunate.
Herbalife Vietnam also partnered with the HCMC Blood Transfusion Hematology Hospital and the National Institute of Hematology and Blood Transfusion to host the Voluntary Blood Donation Day 2024 at its offices in HCMC and Hanoi. Now in its seventh year, this event saw a strong turnout from Herbalife Vietnam’s community, collecting 294 units of blood.
Educating the public about health and wellness
In addition to its community support and environmental initiatives, Herbalife Vietnam collaborates with various partners to promote health and well-being. The company co-organized the Vietnam Community Nutrition Day 2024 in Hanoi and HCMC with Suc Khoe va Doi Song Newspaper to raise awareness about the importance of nutrition and encourage healthy lifestyle habits. Thousands of locals and tourists participated in activities related to health, exercise, and nutrition.
Herbalife Vietnam also supported the annual “Better Me Contest” alongside Suc Khoe va Doi Song since 2022, promoting healthy and active lifestyles through interactive challenges. The contest inspires participants to develop healthy habits and improve their well-being.
Another key initiative supported by Herbalife Vietnam is the “Spreading Positive Energy” contest, organized by Tuoi Tre newspaper. Now in its fifth year, this contest encourages the community to spread positive messages and foster a healthier society.
Encouraging sports and healthy active lifestyles
Herbalife Vietnam is the official nutrition sponsor for Vietnam’s sports sector, partnering with the Vietnam Olympic Committee (VOC) and Vietnam Paralympic Association (VPA) since 2012, and the Vietnam Football Federation (VFF) since 2021. In addition to sponsoring athletes and sports organizations, Herbalife Vietnam promotes public sports events to encourage active lifestyles. Since 2021, it has been the official nutrition sponsor of major marathon events such as the VnExpress Marathon, Tien Phong Marathon, and the Vietnam International Half Marathon.
Environmental stewardship
Herbalife Vietnam demonstrates its environmental responsibility through its Go Green Campaign, launched in 2020. The campaign focuses on reducing plastic waste by replacing single-use plastic items with reusable, eco-friendly alternatives. The company has replaced all product carry bags with non-woven, multiple-use fabric bags, eliminated disposable plastic at its events, and encouraged Independent Members to recycle plastic packaging. These efforts have reduced the company’s plastic usage by 50 tons annually.
Herbalife Vietnam’s environmental initiatives have been recognized by the Vietnam Association for Conservation of Nature and Environment with a Certificate of Recognition, highlighting its contributions to the “For the National Green Environment 2023” campaign.
Recognition for sustainability efforts
Herbalife Vietnam’s efforts have garnered multiple accolades, including the AmCham CSR Award 2023 for outstanding CSR practices and recognition by the Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry (VCCI) for sustainable business practices for seven consecutive years.
The company has also been named one of the Top 10 Most Reputable Food Companies by Vietnam Report and received the Golden Product Award for Public Health for 17 products over nine consecutive years.
