HCMC – A high-speed ferry route connecting Phu Quoc and Tho Chau islands has been launched, helping shorten travel time between the two islands and improving connectivity for travel, tourism and trade.

The service is operated by Superdong Fast Ferry Kien Giang Joint Stock Company using the Superdong V vessel, which has a gross tonnage of 85 tons and a capacity of 275 passengers.

The ferry runs from Monday to Saturday, with one trip per day.

Under the schedule, services depart from Phu Quoc on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays, leaving Bai Vong Port at 10:30 a.m.

Return trips from Tho Chau operate on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays, with departures from Tho Chau Inland Waterway Port at 8:00 a.m.

The high-speed service cuts travel time between Phu Quoc and Tho Chau to around two hours and 30 minutes per trip over a distance of more than 60 nautical miles.

Ticket prices are set at VND330,000 for adults and VND240,000 for children.

Previously, travel between Phu Quoc and Tho Chau mainly relied on the Tho Chau 09 vessel, which operated irregularly, required longer travel times and was frequently disrupted by weather conditions in the southwestern sea.

Improved connectivity is expected to open up new opportunities for marine and island tourism, making it easier for visitors to access Tho Chau, an island that remains largely unspoiled. The route is also anticipated to boost the transport of seafood, agricultural products and consumer goods, helping reduce logistics costs and create fresh momentum for the development of the local marine economy.
