HCMC – A large-scale mural is taking shape along a 300-meter wall on Nguyen Huu Canh Street in Saigon Ward, HCMC, capturing scenes from the military parade celebrating the 50th anniversary of the liberation of the south and the reunification of the nation (April 30, 1975 – 2025). The artwork is expected to be completed by mid-August.
For days, passers-by along Nguyen Huu Canh Street have been greeted by the sight of a vivid and expansive mural
The artwork is part of the “Beautiful Vietnam” project. It spans 300 meters in length and six meters in height, covering a total area of 1,800 square meters. The mural stretches from Thi Nghe Bridge to the Thi Nghe power substation.
The composition follows the chronological flow of the parade — from fighter jets taking off from Bien Hoa Airport to marching blocks of military forces, police units, and female commandos
The mural also features imagery of hundreds of thousands of people joining the vibrant celebration on the streets of HCMC

According to the artists, illustrating the marching blocks — each with numerous participants — posed a particular challenge in terms of capturing body proportions, making it more complex than landscape scenes
Details such as military vehicles, artillery, and aircraft are rendered with striking accuracy and liveliness
The mural is being created by a team of artists led by Le Tuan Minh Vien, who began work on the project in mid-June, aiming for completion by mid-August
Vien noted that the most difficult aspect is accurately portraying the proportions and expressions of the parade participants, requiring meticulous skills to capture the spirit and dynamism in each gesture and glance
Artists work in shifts from dawn to dusk, with six to ten people per shift, to ensure progress
The mural has drawn attention and admiration from passers-by
“The mural is not only visually impressive, but also reflects the creativity and dedication of the artists,” said Hong Yen, a HCMC resident
The mural vividly recreates all 36 formations from the parade commemorating the 50th anniversary of the liberation of the south and the reunification of the nation
Once completed, the mural will enhance the urban landscape, transforming the area into an open-air art space and offering residents and visitors a unique visual experience
