Hoa Phat posts record 25,000 tons of steel sales after Tet

HCMC – Hoa Phat Group (HOSE: HPG) recorded steel sales of 25,000 tons on February 23, the first working day after the Lunar New Year (Tet) holiday, marking its highest daily volume for construction steel, high-quality steel, and steel pipes, reported the Vietnam News Agency.

The company’s integrated steel complexes operated throughout the holiday with three continuous shifts to meet market demand. Orders were processed immediately in the early days of the new year.

Hoa Phat’s total steel production capacity is projected to reach 16 million tons annually by the end of 2026. About 60% of its output will be high-grade steel used in mechanical engineering, high-speed rail, automotive manufacturing, shipbuilding, oil and gas, household appliances, structural steel, and energy.

Closing the trading session today, February 25, HPG extended its winning streak to the third straight session with a 3.53% increase to VND29,300. It took the lead by liquidity with over 136.4 million shares changing hands.

The VN-Index fell 6.71 points, or 0.36%, to close at 1,860.91, as losses in major stocks offset gains in banking, steel, and rubber shares.

The Hochiminh Stock Exchange reported 155 winners and 158 losers. Trading volume reached 1.16 billion shares worth VND38.15 trillion, up 15% in volume and 17% in value from the previous session. Block deals accounted for 72 million shares valued at VND2.42 trillion.

Large-cap stocks weighed on the market. VIC fell 3.01%, while VHM lost 3.60% and VRE declined 3.22%. VJC dropped 4.34%, the steepest decline in the VN30 basket. FPT also declined 3.68%. MCH, which hit its floor price in the morning session, narrowed losses to close down 1.34%.

Bank stocks posted mixed results. SHB rose 4.18% to VND16,200, with 106 million shares traded, the second-highest liquidity on the market after HPG. TPB gained 3.32%, while ACB, MBB, and OCB advanced between 1.7% and 1.9%. STB increased 5.21% to VND66,700.

Steel stocks advanced but pared earlier gains. NKG, TLH, and HSG increased between 0.6% and over 2%.

Oil and gas stocks showed mixed performance. BSR rose 4.82% and PLX gained 0.52%, while GAS edged lower and PVD fell more than 1%. In the securities sector, SSI was among the few gainers, while VPX dropped nearly 3%.

Rubber stocks rose sharply. GVR and HRC hit their ceiling prices at VND42,200 and VND42,350, respectively. DPR added 3.13%.

Cash flow was distributed across several sectors, including steel, banking, technology, securities, and oil and gas.

On the Hanoi Stock Exchange, the HNX-Index picked up 0.51 point, or 0.19%, to close at 263.23, with 76 gainers and 72 decliners. Trading volume totaled 81.8 million shares worth VND1.91 trillion.
