Hoang Anh Gia Lai misses over VND4.5 trillion in bond payments

HCMC – Hoang Anh Gia Lai, whose HAG shares are traded on the Hochiminh Stock Exchange, has delayed payments of bond coupon totaling more than VND4.5 trillion as of September 30.

The company on September 30 missed a scheduled coupon payment of VND136.7 billion for its HAGLBOND16.26 bonds. As a result, the cumulative unpaid coupon value now stands at VND3.49 trillion, while overdue principal totals VND1.02 trillion.

The company cited delays in collecting funds from its subsidiary, Hoang Anh Gia Lai Agricultural JSC, and its inability to sell non-performing assets. Hoang Anh Gia Lai plans to settle these debts in the fourth quarter of this year.

As of June 30, the company reported VND136 billion in cash but had total debt of VND6.93 trillion, equivalent to 82.3% of its equity. Short-term debt amounted to VND3.95 trillion, and long-term debt VND2.98 trillion.

In the first half of 2024, the company recorded VND2.76 trillion in revenue, down by 12.2% year over year. However, the firm posted positive signals such as a 29.9% year-on-year rise in net profit at VND500.2 billion, with its gross profit margin improving from 20% to 35.5%.

This year, the company looks to obtain VND7.75 trillion in revenue and VND1.32 trillion in profit after tax.

Closing the trading session today, October 1, HAG edged up by 2.76% to VND11,150 per share, with a trading volume of over 11.9 million shares.

The VN-Index rose 4.26 points, or 0.33%, to 1,292.2 points on Tuesday, with 270 winners and 125 losers.

Stock trade jumped by 31% in volume and 34% in value over the previous session, with over 982.2 million shares worth VND21.89 trillion changing hands. Block deals accounted for 59.7 million shares valued at VND1.5 trillion.

In the VN30 basket, 16 bluechips gained and eight others dipped. VIB rose the highest, up by 2.59% to VND19,800 per share, followed by SSB with a 2.35% increase to VND17,450 per share.

TCB inched up by 1.9% to VND24,650 per share, and recorded the highest trading volume among the 30 largest-cap stocks, at 40.7 million shares.

Steel stocks saw mixed results, with HPG gaining by 1.5% to VND26,750 per share and TLH up by 2.9% to VND5,780 per share. HSG and NKG closed flat. In the securities sector, ORS hit the ceiling price of VND14,100, while BSI improved by 4.6% to VND52,000 per share and APG increased by 4.5% to VND9,810 per share. VIX advanced by 2.9% to VND12,350 per share, posting the highest trading volume on the southern market with 50.1 million shares.

On the Hanoi Stock Exchange, the HNX-Index added 1.14 points, or 0.48%, to 236.05 points, with 97 stocks advancing and 72 others declining. Trading volume on the northern market totaled 78.3 million shares worth VND1.43 trillion.
