HCMC – The 2023 New Year countdown event on the night of December 31, 2022, in Hue City, Thua Thien Hue Province, was also the closing event of Hue Festival 2022 that, for the first time, lasted all year round. After this event, the central province officially kicked off Hue Festival 2023, themed “Cultural heritage with integration and development,” with various programs lasting throughout the year.
Especially, 2023 marks the 30th anniversary of UNESCO’s recognition of the Complex of Hue Monuments as a site of world cultural heritage and the 20th anniversary of UNESCO’s recognition of Nha Nhac – elegant music – as an intangible cultural heritage. According to the organizing board, spring, summer, autumn, and winter festivals will include many attractive activities to celebrate such special events.
