HCMC – Thua Thien-Hue Province, which is home to the Imperial Citadel of Hue, attracted 821,300 international tourists in the first half of this year, a 42.6% increase against the same period last year.
This contributed to a total of 1.9 million visitors to the central province between January and June, rising by 24.6% year-on-year, according to the local tourism department.
The number of overnight stays climbed 20.1% to 983,600, with those of international visitors increasing by 36% to 362,000.
Tourism revenue totaled VND4 trillion during the period, up by 10.9% year-on-year.
The local government has made efforts to promote its cultural heritage and natural attractions through various channels, including social media and targeted campaigns.
Thua Thien-Hue is prioritizing the development of sustainable tourism initiatives and diversifying its offerings to attract more visitors and stimulate their spending.
