HCMC – The Insurance Supervisory Authority under the Ministry of Finance has asked non-life insurance enterprises to determine the extent of damage within the scope of compensation coverage caused by Typhoon Noru.
The agency said in an official dispatch sent to non-life insurers that Noru left a trail of damage in the country’s central region.
It also urged the companies to determine the extent of the loss within the scope of compensation coverage, submit the result to the agency before September 30 and carry out compensation procedures as prescribed in insurance contracts and regulations.
Earlier, BaoViet Insurance Corporation had prepaid VND100 million to the family of the victims of a car crash on September 27 caused by the typhoon.
On September 28, the typhoon barreled through central Vietnam, injuring four people, destroying three houses, blowing away 157 rooftops, sinking three boats and causing landslides and floods, the local media reported.
Typhoon Noru, one of the four strongest storms in 20 years, weakened into a tropical depression and dumped rain in many parts of the country.
