HCMC – HCMC will organize an International Food Industry Exhibition 2022 (HCMC FOODEX 2022) in late October.
The event will take place from October 19 to 22 at the Saigon Exhibition and Convention Center. The organizer is the HCMC Investment and Trade Promotion Centre and the Food and Foodstuff Association of HCMC (FFA).
HCMC FOODEX 2022 themed, “Connecting values for mutual development”, is aimed at supporting food production enterprises to introduce Vietnamese products to the global market and help them approach advanced machinery and technology, thereby expanding domestic and export markets.
The exhibition is expected to attract over 300 domestic and foreign organizations, focusing on introducing the country’s culinary culture.
Vietnam’s industrial production index of the food processing sector in eight months edged up some 9% over the same period last year, Ly Kim Chi, chair of the FFA, said at a press conference introducing HCMC FOODEX 2022.
The figure for HCMC’s food industry soared 26.87% over the same period last year. Of this, food processing increased by 11.9%.
Vietnam has exported agro-aquatic products and processed foods to over 190 countries and territories and is a major trading partner of the United States, China, Japan and South Korea.
This is a great opportunity for the country to promote trade and cooperation with big clients who set high food safety standards, thereby upgrading the quality of Vietnamese products, Chi said.
Food processing is one of four key industrial sectors that HCMC prioritizes developing, accounting for 13.78% of the production value of the whole industry and contributing 13.69% of the added value of the city’s industry.
