HCMC – Vietnam has seen over 12.7 million international tourists coming in the first nine months of this year, a year-on-year 43% increase, according to the Vietnam National Authority of Tourism.
In September alone, nearly 1.3 million international visitors arrived in Vietnam. South Korea remained the largest source market, with 3.3 million arrivals, accounting for 26.5% of the total. China followed with 2.7 million arrivals, representing 21.3%. Together, these two countries contributed 47.8% of Vietnam’s total international visitor arrivals.
The Northeast Asia region has been the primary driver of Vietnam’s inbound tourism growth. Compared to last year, arrivals from China surged by 141.4%, while respective growth of South Korea and Japan was 30.3% and 27.6%.
European markets also experienced substantial growth, with visitors from the U.K. rising by 19.9%, France by 28.1%, and Germany by 23.3%.
Vietnam aims to attract 17 to 18 million foreign tourists by the end of the year.
