HCMC – Vietnam posted some three million international tourist arrivals in the first two months of this year, up by 68.7% year-on-year and representing 98.5% of the pre-pandemic level, showed data from the General Statistics Office.
Of the total, air travelers accounted for 84.2%, a 1.6-fold increase over the same period in 2023. Meanwhile, overland travelers constituted 12.8% of the total, while sea travelers made up 3%.
Revenue from lodging and catering services inched up 14% over the same period last year, while travel services generated VND9,000 billion, up by 35.8% versus the year-ago period.
In February alone, over 1.3 million foreign tourists came to Vietnam, a slight month-on-month increase of 1.3% and an upsurge of 64.1% year-on-year.
This positive growth in international tourist arrivals is attributed to various factors, including liberal visa policy, tourism promotions and concerted efforts by the Government and local communities to promote and revitalize the tourism sector.
