HCMC – After a long period of travel restrictions due to the pandemic, Japan is finally welcoming back Vietnamese tourists, except those who have taken Chinese-made Covid-19 vaccines such as Vero-Cell.
The Japan National Tourism Organization (JNTO) announced on September 5 that Vietnamese visitors could travel to the Northeast Asian country from September 7.
Travelers who have got Covid vaccines, except for those made in China, will have priority to enter Japan.
However, visitors will have to buy package tours, travel self-sufficiently, or use the services of travel firms and meet the Covid vaccination requirements.
Visitors can skip the Covid test if they have got three shots of vaccines recognized by the Japanese government, such as AstraZeneca, Pfizer, Moderna, Janssen and Novavax.
An online health declaration must be made on the My SOS app at least six hours prior to departure.
After the declaration, when the app turns green, travelers will only need to show it to staff at the border gates to enter the country.
If the app stays red, PCR tests will be conducted and quarantine can be applied.
Travelers who have taken Chinese vaccines or have not been fully vaccinated must take the PCR test 72 hours before departure time and retake the test after a three-day quarantine post entry.
After three days, travelers can freely move around if the test returns negative.
Travelers have to apply for a new visa even though the current one is still valid.
According to the JNTO, to celebrate its reopening after two and a half years of closure, Japan will launch a communication campaign called “Welcome Back to Japan”.
